American journalist and director Bess Kargman's debut goes behind the scenes of ballet – both a performance sport and an art form. During a year, she filmed six young dancers as they trained for the «Youth America Grand Prix», one of the largest and most renowned ballet championships. Her subjects are between 9 and 19 and come from five different continents. Despite their differences, they all have the same goal: the youngest battle for one of the esteemed prizes, the older ones for a scholarship to a school or a contract with a dance company.
